Given the critical nature of the driving experience, the next video in our series, focusing on the new A8, examines the engineering and technology that were devoted to the chassis. “Audi 2019 A8 Defined: Chassis” joins chassis engineer Christian Schimmel as he comprehensively explains the engineering behind the systems of steering, damping systems and tires.
In particular, Schimmel highlights how Audi engineers created the Electronic Active Body Control (eABC) system. This new system, unique to Audi, uses the car’s awareness of its environment and ability to adjust the suspension at each wheel independently to help compensate for gradual influences like road movements that might heave or pitch the car, while also adjusting for more jarring influences like bumps or even potholes.
History is repeating itself in the best way possible. With the introduction of the 2020 Audi S6 and Audi S7, these additions to the S model range carry on the Audi tradition for performance-focused vehicles with distinctive touches of style.
