The last stop in Watkins Glen, New York for the Pirelli World Challenge saw the season finale for Audi Sport customer racing teams in the GT4 and TCR classes. The end result marked a maiden season championship and final round victory for the R8 LMS GT4, and a podium finish for the RS 3 LMS.
James Sofronas and GMG Racing maintained his points lead and won the GTS championship for GT4 cars. The win came three weeks after netting the Sprint X championship with teammate Alex Welch in the previous round.
Flying Lizard Motorsports and driver Mike Hedlund also managed a victory, netting both fastest lap and first place on the podium in the Amateur class for GT4 cars in the eighth and final round of the 2018 series. Jason Bell took the final spot on the podium in that race, bringing his R8 LMS GT4 across the line in 3rd place.
In TCR class, the Compass Racing Audi RS 3 LMS driven by JT Coupal managed third place on the podium in the 12th and final round against strong competitors.
The GT Pro/Am Sprint X class was already decided by the season win of Team Truspeed Auto Sport in the Audi R8 LMS GT3 driven by Parker Chase and Ryan Dalzielat the previous race weekend in Utah.
With the R8 LMS GT3, R8 LMS GT4 and RS 3 LMS TCR, Audi is the only manufacturer that offers customer racing in three separate classes.
