The service technician with telepresence experience
Telepresence technology in Audi dealerships may not spike the technology's presence in popular culture, but it does have the potential to help dealers and customers in a big way by bringing more service expertise to the field.
Audi Robotic Telepresence, or ART, is a two-wheeled remote controlled vehicle equipped with mobile video chat. Stationed in dealerships, ART is an extension of Audi’s remote support team. By livestreaming service inquiries from dealerships to team members in Auburn Hills, Michigan, technicians are able to solve problems with more efficiency.
Currently used in 89 dealerships across our network, ART has made a substantial impact so far, helping to reduce phone calls between the dealership and the factory expert when a more challenging fix is needed by connecting the two teams virtually shoulder to shoulder in seconds. Reducing the back and forth helps get customers' their cars back faster. This helps the dealer service more cars and can reduce costs when previously more-experienced technicians needed to be flown for more difficult repairs.
