In round four of the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, the Audi RS 3 LMS continued its string of victories in the TCR class. On the track at Watkins Glen, drivers Britt Casey Jr. and Tom Long celebrated their second win this season following their success in the opening round at Daytona. Drivers Rodrigo Sale and Kuno Wittmer, who had won rounds two and three, placed second, defeated by three seconds, after four hours of racing. Both driver teams are competing for Team Compass Racing, which has been undefeated in the IMSA season so far. Third place went to drivers Michael Johnson and Stephen Simpson from Team JDC-Miller MotorSports. Success for drivers Tom O’Gorman and Kenton Koch from Team eEuroparts.com Racing allowed Audi Sport customer racing to fill out the top four positions.
The Montaplast by Land Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 narrowly missed the finish as the race winner. After an early racing incident the team pushed to the front and led the race until a pit stop mistake caused them to finish 13th. Unscheduled pit stops plagued the Magnus Racing squad of John Potter, Andy Lally and Andrew Davis during the six hour endurance race. The team finished 12th.
