While we promise not to beat the awards drum too often, we'd like to share an accomplishment that recognizes a central piece of what defines an Audi and what we hope creates Audi fans.
At the core of every Audi is the metal that makes more than hearts race. And as a testament to our commitment to such a task are the results from this year's "International Engine of the Year Awards." A jury of 70 motorsport journalists from around the world selected the best engines in various categories, choosing the Audi 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo as the best engine in the 2.0-liter to 2.5-liter category for the ninth consecutive time.
The engine, which sits in the 2018 TT RS and RS 3, delivers 354 lb-ft of torque and allows the cars to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and 3.9 seconds respectively*. And as far as distinctive engine noises go, the five-cylinder is known for its firing order and unique sound. The 1-2-4-5-3 ignition sequence creates a special rhythm that can be controlled by opening the flaps of the standard RS exhaust system.
The awards have been presented annually since 1999 and this year marks the fourteenth time in total that Audi has been recognized by the "International Engine of the Year Awards".
