As we celebrate the recent one-year anniversary of the global debut of the e-tron, we look to a man by the name of Harvey Soicher to share his story. Harvey made up his mind. He was going to embark on a journey in his Audi e-tron. This trip would mean a few different things to him.
First, it would mean honoring his late wife Mary Ann. Second, it would mean accomplishing the vision of owning an electric vehicle that the two of them shared. And lastly, it would mean testing the e-tron’s capabilities - would it meet Harvey’s expectations and conquer the goal of road tripping across the U.S.?
Before Mary Ann passed away last year, the two planned on purchasing their very first electric vehicle. In this case, it would be the e-tron. The order was placed and Harvey was among the very first to receive his all-electric vehicle in Vancouver, Canada.
After receiving the e-tron, the two would take a road trip together to Newfoundland and the U.S. before returning to Canada. Unfortunately, Mary Ann lost her battle to cancer before they had the chance to make the trip.
However, this didn’t stop Harvey from making plans. In fact, it made it more of a mission. With the start of the journey, he created a blog, Mary Ann’s Electric Drive. In it, Harvey posted photos and updates about his stops, updating his readers along the way. And on July 2, 2019, the memorable road-trip began.
Entering the U.S., Harvey decided to make a stop in Northern Virginia where he met with a few different teams including the Electrify America team, who are building a nationwide charging network. Along with Electrify America, Harvey visited the Audi of America headquarters and met with the Audi EV strategy and product management teams. It was a memorable day for all. Harvey’s visit consisted of everything from how it began, to how smooth the journey had been so far and everything the e-tron had in store for him. At this point, he was halfway through the trip. Keen on the workmanship, Harvey was especially happy with the usable storage space, towing capacity, the optional ventilated front seats, as well as having ample space to store his surf boards up top.
Since Harvey’s visit to Audi mid-August, his journey has come to completion. He successfully managed to hit each designated destination – mission accomplished. Although his journey has recently come to an end, you can visit Harvey’s blog and read up on all the places he visited:
