On June 7, 2019, the anticipation would finally be over. Charlotte Siann would come face-to-face with the Audi exclusive RS 5 Sportback she had envisioned with the help of her local dealer, Audi Fresno. The RS 5 Sportback with its individualized paint in Arrow blue and the steering wheel and shift knob custom tailored in Alcantara® would become hers to own.
Meet Charlotte Siann
Charlotte grew up in a family with a predominant appreciation for Audi vehicles. Her mother, father and sister are all current owners of an Audi S4, SQ5, and an A3.
Charlotte’s first car, fondly named “Freddie,” a 2001.5 VW Passat B5.5 in a 1.8T engine, was given to her at the age of 16, and 18 years later, it remains part of her collection. Along with the VW Passat, her collection consists of a 2015 Audi S4 6 Speed Manual in Daytona Grey, a 2018 Audi SQ5 in Navarra Blue and a 2015 Audi S3 in Misano Red (her wife’s last car), and a 2012 Audi A4 S-line B8 Chassis in Monsoon Gray.
When Charlotte is not taking one of her cars for a ride, she can most likely be found enjoying the outdoors with her three dogs, working out and encouraging a healthy way of life, or getting ready to launch her company, High Performance Vegan. She also works as a business development executive in the dietary supplement, or “nutraceutical” space, with Shanghai Freeman – a Chinese-headquartered global ingredient supplier for different companies and manufacturers of different brands where she helps to provide the companies' products to use in their finished goods
Everyday life for Charlotte means meeting with clients a regular basis. The right car to do it in was of importance. This arose the need for a car like the RS 5 Sportback.
“I have ALWAYS been partial to four door sedans with a special spot for a five-door vehicle option, so when I heard Audi was going to launch the RS 5 Sportback in the U.S. market I KNEW I had to own one.”
The beginning of something new
The inspiration behind the RS 5 began one day while Charlotte was visiting family in Scotland last year. At that point she knew she wanted the car, but how she would configure it was still up in the air. When envisioning the perfect color, Charlotte found herself searching online for any dose of inspiration. She dedicated specific folders on Instagram and Pinterest. Shortly into her search for the perfect color, she discovered a Porsche 918 Sypder in a bright and bold Arrow Blue, or “Pfielblau,” as it is known as in Germany. The color instantly captured her attention and in her opinion did the right kind of justice to the uniqueness of the car. Though the color captivated her attention, it would be a big change from her standard black and grey choice in cars.
The photo of the Porsche that stirred the inspiration was actually a famous Scottish supercar. All of the photos of the car had been taken in Charlotte’s birth city of Edinburgh. And Edinburgh is where she happened to be in the moment, at her grandparents’ house, looking at the photographs captured on the very same cobblestone she had grown up only 20 miles away from. It was a sign. Arrow blue was the answer. Now the remaining question was, could this color come in the form of the RS 5? Charlotte contacted Audi Fresno to commission an individualized factory order and open the special request to look into its feasibility or the closest alternative paints. And in a matter of weeks, the good news came in – Arrow Blue was a reality.
Charlotte always viewed the RS models as the pinnacle of Audi. But what would make the pinnacle relevant to her vision, would be owning it in the form of a four-door sedan. And with that would come additional customizations that stand true to those of her values. For instance, being vegan for six years, it was important for Charlotte to opt for leather-free seats. As an alternative, Alcantara, a vegan synthetic, was used instead. The Alcantara finish in the RS 5 also added a diamond stitching – both easy on the eyes and cool for the hot California summer.
The day she had been waiting for
The Blancpain GT World Challenge America Series in Sonoma was fast approaching. And because Charlotte is a fan of racing, it was only fitting she be presented with her new car during the weekend of the event. With the help of the Audi Fresno team, Charlotte and her wife were on their way.
Upon arriving in Sonoma, Charlotte checked into the Fairmount Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. Just minutes into her arrival, there it was, shining under the blazing sun just waiting to be seen - a vision come to life. Her brand new RS 5 had arrived.
But the experience didn’t end there. Now it was time for the big race where she would have the opportunity to meet racecar drivers such as Erin Vogel. Audi Sport guided Charlotte throughout the race, explaining the different classes and rules, as well as the builds from Audi. All-in-all, a walk through what goes on behind the scenes.
Though the entire experience became an unforgettable memory, Charlotte recalls the photoshoot with her RS 5 to be the most memorable part of the process, outside of the design consultation.
Audi Fresno facilitated the photoshoot that consisted of two photographers and the natural scenery of Sonoma and Napa Valley.
“The overall experience was amazing - to be recognized by a company who you love and admire and be given a very unique and personal experience has been just fabulous,” Charlotte explained. “It’s like icing on the cake, it’s the best part to be made to feel special and appreciated for your business and brand loyalty. I will never forget this experience and will have the memories and photos to reflect on throughout my life.”
