The Audi R8 V10, made famous by Marvel Super Hero Iron Man in Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Captain America: Civil War” is now on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.
Sounds normal, right? A cool car should be displayed in a museum dedicated to cool cars.
But, “normal” is not how some would describe the Audi R8, so we decided it was time to show this iconic vehicle in an unexpected way.
As part of the Petersen’s “Hollywood Dream Machines: Vehicles of Science Fiction and Fantasy” exhibit, the installation of the R8 V10, originally driven by Marvel’s Tony Stark, appears in a deconstructed state. Inspired by the work of Swiss artist Fabian Oefner, the display provides an "exploded" view of the vehicle by suspending the car’s many components in mid-air on wires.
Set alongside a red and gold armored Iron Man costume worn by Robert Downey Jr.’s character, the installation commemorates the tenth anniversary of the 5.2 FSI V10 engine in the Audi R8. The exhibit also features the Audi RSQ concept, driven by Will Smith’s character Detective Del Spooner in “I, Robot.”
Produced in collaboration with Comic-Con Museum, the “Hollywood Dream Machines” exhibit opened on May 4, 2019, and features over 40 iconic Hollywood vehicles, artwork, props and costumes.
You can visit the exhibit now through March 15, 2020.
